Contoh/Example of Report Text in Komodo

KOMODO DRAGON
Do you know what is the largest lizard? This lizard is called komodo. It lives in the scrub and woodland of a few Indonesian islands.

Komodo dragon is the world's heaviest lizard, weighing 150 pounds or more. The largest Komodo ever measured was more than 10 feet (3 meters) long and weighed 366 pounds (166 kg) but the average size of komodo in the wild is about 8 feet (2.5 meters) long and 200 pounds (91 kg)

Komodo has gray scaly skin, a pointed snout, powerful limbs and a muscular tail. They use their keen sense of smell to locate decaying animal remains from several miles away. They also hunt other lizards as well as large mammals and are sometimes cannibalistic.

The Komodo dragon's teeth are almost completely covered by its gums. When it feeds, the gums bleed, creating an ideal culture for virulent bacteria. The bacteria that live in the Komodo dragon's saliva causes septicemia, or blood poisoning, in its victims. A dragon will bite its prey, then follow it until the animal is too weak to carry on.

This lizard species is threatened by hunting, loss of prey species and habitat loss.

  2. Report text is classified as factual text. Informational report is written to make detail information about something and commonly grouping thing and not individual thing.
    What must be important is that informational report does not include a personal view about the topic. This personal view of the writer will belong to a descriptive text.
    From the above report text, we can take a look on the generic structure. Every report text will be arranged in to Identification and followed by description. Below is the generic structure from that above contoh/ example of report text.
    IDENTIFICATION is stated clearly in the first paragraph. Identification is an introduction on the topic which will be explained more in detail. The Identification clearly stated the the topic is about KOMODO or the largest lizard animal
    DESCRIPTION is the main element of the report text. How a writer know about the topic will be shown on the paragraph of description. From the above example of report text, we can see that the the characteristics of komodo can be seen from the large size of the body, that is the biggest lizard. After description about the size of the body, it is followed by the explanation about the skin and the poisonous gums

  6. Ini contoh report text yang bagus, cukup jelas, dan ada generic structure nya juga. Sayang sekali tidak di beri language featurenya sekalian dari contoh report text ini.
    Contoh report text sering membingungkan. apa bedanya contoh report text dengan descriptive text? Kalau boleh usul, beri 2 contoh text dari satu topic yang satu sebagai contoh report text yang lain sebagai contoh descriptive text. trimakasih

  18. @Anonym, Thank for your correction. You are right that IDENTIFICATION should be replaced by GENERAL CLASSIFICATION. Identification belongs to Descriptive text. My previous posts about what Report
    and Descriptive text have stated IDENTIFICATION and CLASSIFICATION in the right place

  24. This sample of report text is clearly recommended to learn about what a report text. Just to add, the following parragraphs are another example of report text about animal.
    Birds
    Birds are interesting flying animals. They are vertebrates and warm blooded animals. They belong to aves class and they can be found all over the world. Birds breath with their air pocket. Beside as respiration organ, air pocket also can enlarge or reduce their weight when flying or swimming. There are many kinds of birds. Earth bird has special characteristic. They have different morphology acording to their food
    and their habitat. Some of them eat seeds, pollen, fish or meat. There are some species that live in land and the others live in water. Land birds live on their nest. Female birds have specific tasks. they lay eggs and feed their baby, Beside that they look for foods for their baby.

  31. No You need not to say sorry. I like to be shown how can be this example of report text about komodo is possibly labeled as descriptive text. supposed it is a descriptive text due to some acceptable criteria...then it is easy to change the label and title as descriptive text. the point is we build better understanding about text types, especially the report and the descriptive text.
